Soo dhowow

A whole city,
a whole week,
a whole heritage.

For twelve days each summer, Minneapolis and Saint Paul become the largest Somali cultural capital in the Western world. Streets close. Stages rise. Forty thousand people come home.

Somali Week MN is more than a festival — it is the largest sustained gathering of the Somali diaspora in North America, and a love letter to the Minnesota that welcomed us.

"We don't just celebrate where we come from — we celebrate the Minnesota we have built together." — Somali Week MN Organizing Committee

Common Questions

Before you show up.

Got something we didn't cover? Reach out.

Is Somali Week free to attend?
+
The flagship SID Festival on Lake Street is free and open to the public. The Somali Week lineup includes four signature events. Ticketing details are listed on the Events page as each event is confirmed.
Is parking available?
+
Yes — multiple free and paid lots are within a 5-minute walk of every venue. We strongly recommend Metro Transit (Green Line for Saint Paul, Blue Line for Minneapolis). A full transit & parking guide drops two weeks before the festival.
Can non-Somali Minnesotans attend?
+
Absolutely — please come. Somali Week is hosted by the Somali community and built for everyone. Bring your kids, your neighbors, your appetite. Soo dhowow.
How do I become a vendor?
+
Applications open February 1, 2026 and close May 15 or when sold out. Visit our Vendors page to apply. Returning vendors get first priority for booth placement.
Is the festival kid-friendly?
+
Built for families. June 28 is dedicated Kids & Family Day with a bouncy-house zone, henna for kids, face painting, a youth dance stage, and free shaah for parents.
What about prayer space?
+
A dedicated prayer tent with wudu station is set up at every major festival venue. Five-times-daily adhan called from the main stage at SID Festival.
Are pets allowed?
+
Service animals are welcome at every event. Non-service pets are not permitted at indoor venues; outdoor venues are at vendor discretion.

Don't miss a thing.
